Come Play. Come Stay.

RiderPottsboro was founded in 1878 by A.J. Potts as a railroad town. In 1941 a military base, Perrin Field, was constructed south of town and 1944, the Red River was dammed forming Lake Texoma which serves as a cornerstone of Pottsboro.  The Pottsboro area was the Texas  starting point for the historic Shawnee-Preston Trail which served as a major cattle trail and eventually developed into Preston Road which served as a primary road from Indian Territory (present day Oklahoma) to Dallas. Today Pottsboro offers small town ambiance with the excitement and facilities that serves our Lake Texoma visitors.

The Pottsboro Visitor Center is open Tuesday-Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. to serve the needs of visitors to the area. The center offers tourist information on hotels, fishing guides, restaurants, golf, museums and other activities in the community. The Pottsboro Visitor Center is located at 615 Highway 120 East, Pottsboro, Texas. 903.786.6371
